Extended Dovetail Pen Jaws 45mm – Precision 100 Chuck
These extended dovetail jaws are used by pen makers for securely holding pen blanks for drilling, turning and for squaring up the pen blank ends. Internally the jaws are square and will accept square pen blanks from 15mm to 25mm or round blanks from 20mm to 35mm. In expansion mode the 45mm extra-long jaws are excellent for holding long spigot work and are used for hollow form turning and in particular for turning pepper mills and deep rooted candle sticks.
These jaws are machined from a special grade of medium-tensile steel, which is normally used for the manufacture of high performance turbo impellors, pistons and gears. Using this steel allows for closer tolerances during the manufacturing process which results in excellent concentricity to minimize vibration and to ensure that a chatter-free, super fine finish can be achieved by the woodturner. ©
